Crisis can break you — or define you. Desi chose purpose.

In this powerful episode of the BornSuperHuman Podcast, host Dan Metcalfe sits down with internationally recognized wellness leader Dr. Desiree (Desi) Bartlett, CPT, E-RYT — a dynamic educator, motivator, author, and global ambassador for joyful movement.

On September 11th, 2001, Dr. Desi was on a plane. As the world changed in an instant, so did her perspective on life, purpose, and service.

In this deeply moving interview, Desi shares how that moment became the turning point that solidified her calling — to help others heal, grow stronger, and express their inner joy through movement.

With over 30 years of experience in health and wellness, Dr. Desi Bartlett has built a career rooted in one foundational truth:

Movement is an outer expression of inner joy.

Originally from Chicago, Desi holds a degree in Kinesiology, a minor in Dance, a Master’s in Corporate Fitness, and is currently pursuing her doctoral degree. She carries advanced certifications in Yoga, Personal Training, Pre & Post Natal Fitness, and Group Fitness — and serves as a continuing education provider for Yoga Alliance, NASM, and the National Council for Personal Trainers.

Her career spans leadership and ambassador roles with Manduka, Gaiam, Equinox, Yogaworks, the US Navy, Mattel, and Frenshe. Her work has been featured on ABC, NBC, FOX, Univision, Hallmark, and Lifetime — and her digital programs reach women across the United States, Latin America, and Europe.

But this conversation goes deeper than credentials.

Dan and Desi explore:

  • The neuroscience and emotional power of joyful movement

  • Why strength training is essential for women over 35

  • Pregnancy, postnatal strength, and reclaiming your body

  • How to age powerfully — not fearfully

  • Why femininity and strength are not opposites

  • Movement as identity, empowerment, and expression

Desi shares insights from her bestselling books:

  • Your Strong Sexy Pregnancy

  • Total Body Beautiful: Secrets to Looking and Feeling Your Best After Age 35

She also co-created a revolutionary round yoga mat designed for mothers and families — endorsed by Alicia Silverstone — with her mission to help women cultivate strength from the inside out.

This episode is empowering, intelligent, joyful, and deeply aligned with the BornSuperHuman philosophy. You are not meant to shrink as you age. You are meant to expand.
